Outbursts2011
My cartoon in response to the recent mass shooting in Tucson. Politicians are blaming each other while at the same time using the tragedy as an excuse not to get anything done. Meanwhile the rest of the people in the country somehow manage to go to work and live their lives. My profile image for my coming Political cartoon site and a cartoon depicting the Republicans regaining control.

A Republican Tea Party
Is there really anyone who believes that the Tea Party is not a part of the Republican Party? Please let me know if I'm wrong but as far as I can tell there really is no difference. When Sarah Palin speaks and both groups jump through hoops to give her money to spew her nonsense i'ts awful hard to see any difference. Just a thought.
Chalkboard of Doom
Not since Senator Joe McCarthy In a 1950 speech, entered the public spotlight by claiming that communists had "infested" the State Department, while he dramatically waved a sheet of paper which purportedly contained the traitors' names has there been a stage prop used so successfully to agitate and insight people. Glenn Beck is a master at what he does and I admit that at times I find some of what he says to be funny and even thought provoking, but unfortunately far to many people take every word he says as the unquestionable truth. There is a fine line between what you say and knowing when not to say it and although I am a believer in everyones right to freedom of speech I also believe that when you chose to spend your life expressing your opinions you should be aware of the consequences that may result from the content of your statements. A misspoken word or turn of phrase can have terrible results. We try to teach our children to think before they speak but for some reason the concept is lost in adult hood. Sometimes knowing what not to say is far more important than saying everything that comes to mind or in the case of Glenn Beck is drawn on a Chalkboard.

Outbursts cover
I'm currently putting together a collection of some of my editorial cartoons to submit to any one who will have me. Here's the cover. I like it at this point, but as is the case with most of what I do there is a possibility that I might tweak it a little. The Democrat and Republican fighting are a favorite of mine that I may have to change some day if the Tea Party gains some more ground.

Cartooning can be dangerous.
Ironically in an era of news papers being shut down and cartoonists loosing their jobs the protest over a recently published cartoon in the New York Post shows just how effective having cartoons in a publication can be. However the complete lack of good judgement and knowledge of cultural sensitivity on the part of the cartoonist and his editors shows how destructive images can be to the fabric of a civil society. Many cartoonists throughout history have actually played a big part in revealing the true character of some truly vile characters in business and politics. Unfortunately they have also helped to reenforce terrible stereotypes of many ethnic minorities in this country. As a cartoonist I think one of the most important tools is knowledge. Especially if you are going to attempt any sort of social commentary. When you can think beyond the boundries of your own upbringing and social norms the insight you gain into the lives of others should help to inform the content of your work. As with anything in life the universal rule should be followed, "Think before you act!"

The 111th Congress
The similarities between the 111th Congress and a circus may seem superficial at first but once you start to observe them more closely it becomes increasingly apparent that a clown and a member of Congress have alot more in common than you might think. I won't go into the details but I'm sure you know what I mean. If you don't than you must be a member of Congress and if that's the case why are you reading this nonsense and not doing the job you were elected to do? Get off the computer and get back to work you clown!
